"To be kept in it's natural idiom for
all time" Gavin Greig M.A.
The Society was founded in March 1984 by our Founder President
Mr James M Duncan, in order to keep alive in a fast changing
world all the old and true traditions of Buchan in Music, Song,
Verse, Drama and Olde Tyme Dance.
The magazine reflects the year of events within the society,
the festival results and a platform for budding local writers
as well as a medium for north east exiles and Buchan folk alike
with an intersting story to tell. The magazine is published
in May.
Since1984 the Strichen Festival has continued to grow with
old friends returning each year to compete and entertain, maintaining
a high standard and each year adding new friends to compliment
our friendly and enthusiastic organisation.
September sees our Young Entertainers Competition giving an
opportunity for the younger generation to use their talents
in order to keep our North East traditions in music, song and
verse alive.
Jack Webster, Anne Lorne Gillies and Robert Lovie along with
Kathryn Matthews, Ian McIntosh, Gordon Hay and Ben Tory join
the Buchan Heritage Society Committee at their Burns Supper.
